I've read quite a bit about Chislehurst Caves and have heard the ghost stories that are associated with it, I'd love to do a ghost hunt there but I thought that I'd go along for a family day out to see what it's like first.
I've been told that the caves are creepy at the best of times and I must admit I am inclined to agree. Walking through the tunnels with our guide, a large group of other visitors and our tilly lamp it did indeed feel pretty creepy. As we walked on with the group we fell to the back and had the opportunity to dwell in the very dark and eerie caves in relative solitude, although only briefley. I must admit that knowing the group was still close by was quite reassuring, theres not many places that I have visited that I would feel uncomfortable walking alone but Chislehurst caves may very well be one of those places. At one point the group got out of sight and as we walked on they hadn't gone the way we had expected! The caves are 22 miles of mazed caverns I'm sure it would be easy to get lost!
So considering it was an organised tour it was at times a little unnerving, it did feel as though there were other people there following us in the dark, we thought we heard some noises behind us even when we were at the tail end of the group. I have just gotta get on a Ghost Hunt there....They don't do all nighters anymore though but I reckon that even a few hours with just a small group of believers of Spirit would be enough to convince me that those caves are, as legend has it, haunted.
We took quite a few photographs which can be viewed in my new Photo Gallery, many of these pictures have orbs in. Although orbs are still open to much debate I have become increasingly interested in them since the orb picture from Michelham Priory. Many of the orbs in the pictures from Chislehurst caves are dense and colourful and atleast one of them has a clear (to us) face within it. I'll try to get this on here some time in the not too distant future.
If you're anywhere near the caves which are located near Bromley in Kent then I'd highly recommend you visit them. If you have done a ghost hunt there then I'd be very interested to hear from you, looking on the net there are a lot of very interesting pictures that have been taken within the caves.
