Seeking Confirmation Of The Paranormal....

I remember the first time I saw the use of a pendulum was on a television program about a Spiritual development weekend with Tony Stockwell.  I wasn't really that interested at the time I just recall noting that Tony's was spinning considerably more than the course participants. It was only when Rosie returned from her development circle and told me that they were using pendulums and now she wanted to buy one.

Alright then how is this pendulum thing supposed to work? Well you hold the pendulum, obviously by the end of the chain, and then ask spirit to use the pendulum to communicate with you. It is required to hold the pendulum, which is generally made from a gemstone and then ask it "What is your answer for yes?" the pendulum will respond, "What is your answer for no?" the pendulum will respond again but differently and you may also want to ask "What is your answer for don't know?" again the pendulum will respond. Well it all seemed a bit far fetched to me but I was willing to give it a shot.

Prior to buying a pendulum Rosie found a window crystal that we had and attempted to use it as a pendulum. She got it to spin for yes, swing for no and don't know was a vibration. Ok that's all very well but hey that's Rosie what about me? I gave it a go and low and behold it actually worked! Now I don't believe for a minute that Spirit was communicating through me but it did move, I'll go into my theory a little later.

We asked the crystal various trivial questions which it got right every time but we wanted to test it further to prove its power. Rosie devised a test which involved my daughter drawing a circle on a piece of paper and turn it circle side down on to the table, she then added three other pieces of paper and muddled them up so no one knew which piece of paper had the circle on it. Rosie then commenced with the test to find the circle, she held the crystal above each piece of paper and asked the crystal "Is the circle here?". This was a real test of faith for the crystal and very much to my surprise and Rosie's relief the crystal identified the correct piece of paper! Cool, I wonder if I could do that? I just had to have a go and I only went and got it right too! My God this actually works!

So it's true, it does work but how? I can't honestly say but I can share with you my theory; I believe that we, as humans, are capable of a lot more than we are aware of by tapping into our subconsciousness. I think that through our subconscious mind we are able to send a neuromuscular impulse to our finger tips which will make the pendulum spin, the pulsing I feel in my fingers is similar to the pulsing I feel in my palms during Zhan Zhaung. I think that the answers to the questions that we are ask also come from our subconscious which is our smarter Self, as I described in the meditation article. On the flip side I also believe that if we are able to communicate with Spirit then it also the subconscious part of our brain that is capable of this and hence control the pendulum. This theory is all very well but how did we both identify the circle in the test mentioned above??? Like I said I think we are capable of a lot more than we are aware of....

Prior to writing this article I was having a conversation with a friend and mentioned my theory of using your subconscious to control the pendulum, he told me that he had read about something called the Ideomotor Effect which supports my theory, although in my opinion it still remains theory. Oh and for some reason pendulums cannot be used to predict the outcome of the lottery. Something to do with material greed being morally incorrect so the pendulum will not comply, something like that anyway. I haven't actually tried but I think I'll give it a go, watch this space if there's nothing new for a while then you can presume the pendulum got my numbers right
